Tips you need to know about foam for maximum comfort
Part Number
Foam types use a two-digit numbering system: the initial pair of numbers shows the foam’s density, and the final two digits reflect its ILD, which indicates firmness or compression. The greater the last two digits, the firmer the foam.
Durability
The density of foam is calculated in pounds per cubic foot (lbs/cu ft). Foam with higher numbers in the first two digits is heavier, leading to increased longevity and cost. It’s important to note that density does not determine foam firmness.
Firmness
For foam that is 4 to 5 inches thick, the firmness ratings below apply. Modify the ILD (the last two numbers) based on thickness—choose a lower ILD for thicker cushions or a higher one for thinner cushions to avoid bottoming out.

The Curon brand has been around for over 35 years and is well known for its performance and comfort compared to other polyurethane foam. The firmness rating is for a 4 or 5" cushion. | Premium HR | HR18 | The best High Resiliency (HR) foam made in Canada. HR foam is heavier which means it maintains its thickness and firmness, much longer than traditional polyurethane grades that tend to soften with use. The Q18 and Q22 can be used for premium softer backs and seats. They can also be used long-lasting toppers for added comfort.This line is a little heavier than regular Premium HR and comes in Super Soft or Firmer Compressions. All Premium grades are non-allergenic and certiPUR-US certified.
